Health, Population, Nutrition eToolkit for Field Workers

The Bangladesh Knowledge Management Initiative (BKMI) working closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in Bangladesh developed an easy to use eToolkit, or digital library, for the government-supported community-based frontline health workers (CHWs) that provide counseling at the community level. The CHWs often lack accurate and up-to-date information.

The eToolkit was disseminated through a three-and-half a month pilot in two of the lowest-performing districts in Bangladesh, Sylhet and Chittagong. 300 CHWs in Sylhet and Chittagong districts received netbooks loaded with digital resources and use the netbooks in their usual client counseling activities. A two-day orientation was given to them on how to use the netbooks. The CHWs and also their clients were very excited to get essential health, family planning & nutrition information at their fingertips. It helped them reach out a greater number of clients within a short time.
