Village health teams (VHTs) can play an important role in reducing the number of child deaths in Ugandan communities. In order to achieve this, they need to be properly trained, supported and motivated. VHT performance and motivation is influenced by the community’s appreciation of the VHTs role and responsibilities.
This toolkit is designed to provide Nigeria’s faith leaders – both Christian and Muslim – with the tools they need to help fight malaria in their own communities. It also provides them with a specific plan of action for using the tools. It is organized into four main sections:

The Healthy Communities and Municipalities methodology is comprised of a guide for prospective program managers, which teaches them about the value of health promotion and provides instructions for application, as well as the toolkits which are provided to the local governments to enable them to equip their communities with health monitoring too
The Community Health Program Implementation Guide was developed by the Communication for Healthy Living Project to help community level NGOs and CDAs to carry out a package of family health interventions that have been proven to improve community health.
